Palm in Palm
Surrounded by concrete jungles and characterised by fast-paced living, the modern society of Singapore might be inclined to lose close affinity with the natural environment. Therefore, the project seeks to connect people to local nature through the incorporation of locally-found natural materials.
Fallen palm leaves of the Roystonea regia were chosen based on their availability and close location. Through material driven design, Palm in Palm is a collection of holdable objects exploring the unique visual and tactile qualities of the palm leaf sheath.
The project also hopes to encourage deeper appreciation for the surrounding flora as a provider of beauty, inspiration and resources.
